Newsletter of the Stockton Art League | April 2001 |
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
HOPEFULLY things are coming together.
At first we received a bid for improving the Elsie May Goodwin Art Center, utilizing the present equipment and concealing the ugly ductwork, etc., but this turned out to be rather expensive. Then we received a plan and bid to install two heating-air conditioning units on the roof and remove existing ugly ductwork and old furnace. Then we would contract out the plaster repair, painting and display lighting. the remodeling committee was in agreement that this would be the best way to go.
The Bylaws Committee met and started the lengthy process of bringing the bylaws up to date including the Art Center.
The Building Use Committee met and discussed Art Center days and hours open, rentals and classes. New committees were suggested: Art Center programs (special activities), auctions, art tours and tour director.
The Memorial Committee is working on some special memorials to The May Goodwin for the Art Center.
Other committees are working but aren't ready for a report in this Collagraph.
Elsewhere in the Collagraph is a "Survey of Members' Interests". It is of utmost importance that every member participates so that we may decide what directions we should pursue in the future. This will benefit everyone so we may better share our work and ideas with one another.
In closure, I would like to mention how important it is to create the very best impression when we open the Art Center. So lets work together to that purpose.
Sincerely,
Don Baker, President
